To the woods

Today found us in Ankerdine Wood, Worcestershire. The woods are situated three miles to the South of Martley on the B4197; and boasts a fantastic late Springtime display of Bluebells and Wild Garlic. Today was pretty muddy, due to the current wettest 'drought' ever recorded, but the magnificent scenes hidden by the woods is well worth donning the boots and braving the conditions.

When you first enter the woods you are overwhelmed by the wonderful array of colors and the sweet smell of the Wild Garlic. You are surrounded by photography opportunities everywhere and spoilt for choice as to where to start. The other good thing about Ankerdine is that it is well hidden away and not sign posted; and so this means that not too many visitors walk it, leaving the wild flowers in good condition and allowing you to share the surroundings with an abundance of wild life, including breeding pairs of Buzzards.
So there you have it. If you don't mind getting a bit muddy and your able to walk over fairly rough and steep terrain, you will be well rewarded with the chance of getting some fantastic images.
Hope you have all got your camera's serviced and ready for summer photography, I'm sure the rain must stop at some point.
Talk again soon,
Kelvin

Weekend away

We have just spent a very enjoyable 'long weekend' in pembrokeshire; and with it's picturesque harbours, dramatic coast lines, magnificent cathedrals and historic castles in plentiful supply, the area truly is a photographers paradise.

Regular visitors to this site will know of my links to the Tenby Lifeboat and that we have been visitors to this area for many years; and yet every single trip offers something new for the camera to capture.
We shall be going again in June and as always, I will keep you posted on our activities. In the mean time though, you can see a few of the images from this trip by clicking on the 'flickr' link below.
Happy photography

There is a lot to be said for catching some winter sun; and there is probably no better place to be able to do that than the Canary Islands. But when you can combine this with some great photography locations, what more could you possibly ask for?

Although I had been to other Islands in the Canaries, this was my first visit to Lanzarote; and I certainly wasn't disappointed. The sun was shining most of the time, it was warm and the scenery was amazing. For any of you that have not visited this particular part of the world, a trip up on to the Volcanoes is an absolute must for any photographer. Obviously I have never actually been to the moon, but the terrain offered cannot be that much different.
Here is a sample of the images, to see more click on the 'flickr' button

As you can probably tell by now, I had a great time on this late winter holiday and would certainly recommend the location to any one. You can see a sample of the images on my "flickr" site; and please feel free to leave a comment, using the form at the bottom of the page.
Happy Spring photography to you all,

The German Markets

17th December 2011 - 0 comments
Back from Germany now and the Christmas Markets were as colourful, festive and good as ever. We had a very busy time, visiting markets in four country's all in just three days, but it was most enjoyable.
We saw all of the usual things but there is so much fun to be had that we never tire of it. We also enjoyed some really good food and drink; and the week was rounded off with an interesting ferry crossing back to the UK. Zeebrugge to Hull in a storm force gale. Didn't bother us though, simply rocked us to sleep.
All in all it's been another good year for photography; and if we don't speak again this year, all have a Merry Christmas and a great 2012 with the camera.

Hi Folks. Just thought I would let you know that the Christmas market trail has now started, with a visit to the Frnkfurt market at Birmingham on Wednesday evening. As always it was very busy but bigger and better than ever. Well worth a visit if you live anywhere near the city. There are a couple of images here and more to see in the Gallery section.

Follow @CallearImages

Next week is the big one, with visits to the Christmas markets of Bonn; Rudeshine; Koblenz and Bruge; and all in four days. Of course there will be plenty of photo's on the site when I get back, so do call again soon.

It's Winter time again
13th November 2011 - 0 comments

Winter is back with us again and it's time for the return of the magical Christmas Markets.
Of course, the first market we shall be visiting is our very own German market in the centre of Birmingham, due to open on the 17th. November; but then in early December we are off to Germany again to visit a number of markets along the Rhine Valley. So watch out for the new images.

Happy Christmas to you all and remember, it may be cold but the winter can give you some great shots.

The photographs will be predominantly for use in RNLI publications, magazines and leaflets, etc., but of course, there will also be a selection to see on this site.

Hi every one, how are you keeping?
We have just been away for a couple of days to the Lake District. Officially it was as a birthday treat for the one who must be obeyed, but somehow or another the camera happened to find it's way in to the car when I was filling the boot... now there's a surprise.

For those of you who have not been to this magnificent part of the country let me tell you that if your a fan of nature and landscape, you really have to find the time to get there. The photography opportunities are endless and the scenery is breath taking.
On another topic by the way, you may have noticed that summer is well on the way, but just now, late spring, offers endless chances for some truly great shots, so get out and about.
Talk to you all again soon,
Kelvin

We are just back from a wonderful week on the Canarian Isle of Gran Canaria. Hot sun, blue skies, plenty to eat and drink and some fantastic photography oportunities. What better way can there be of relaxing at the end of a bitter cold British winter?

A happy and prosperous New Year to all fellow photographers; and wishing you some great photo opportunities throughout the seasons of 2011. Remember, there's a photograph everywhere you look... been able to see it in the 'minds eye' is the skill that separates a photographer from the average snapper.
Best wishes to you all,

It's been snowing.....

Hello again, fellow camera people. Well did you make the most of the recent profusion of snow? I have been out there, getting cold and wet, but making the most of the rare conditions to get some shots (lots and lots of them) of all sorts of subjects, that look so much different covered in deep snow. You can view a few examples in the 'Miscellaneous' gallery.
So if you haven't been out this time I urge you not to pass up this opportunity. I don't imagine for one second that we have seen the last of the white stuff, so when it returns, wrap up warm and get out amongst it. When you see the results, you'll be glad that you did.

Hi there. I am just back from a whistle stop trip to various Christmas Markets, in Germany, Holland and Belgium. Yes... yes.., I know we have a German Christmas Market here in Birmingham, but you just can't beat the real thing, I always say.
:

You can see a few of the shots I took in the 'Miscellaneous' gallery; and if you have a few days to spare next December, I can highly recommend a trip like this one.

Come all you photographers, this isn't the time to wrap up warm in front of the fire; it's the time to wrap up extra warm and get out there in the ice, cold and snow for a chance to get some of the best shots you have ever taken.
Frozen water, frost covered trees, snow capped mountains and an abundance of wildlife offer great opportunities to the photographer. So put on the extra thick coat, warm hat and fingerless gloves, then get out there and get snapping.

What does winter mean to you. Dark mornings and nights, wet, cold and miserable? Well that's what it means to wild birds too. So don't miss out on a chance of some great shots. The birds will be looking for food and coming in to the gardens. So brave the cold armed with meal worms and capture images of Robins, Blue Tits and the like, at their very best.

Hi there.
New as a visitor, or an old visitor confused? Then let me explain. KELVIN CALLEAR~Photography is a site that was previously known as "World of Image". So why the change? well there is no change really, it's just a case of bringing things together; and for those old friends who wish to use the original log-on details, i.e., 'worldofimage.com' or 'worldofimage.co.uk' there's no problem, you still can. You will simply be re-directed to the new site at 'callearimages.co.uk' and here you are. So browse away and enjoy your visit.
